Coventry, over whose signature I received the 'e'mail shown below, would care to tell us why, when using, to a greater or lesser extent, tax payers money, they have published lies. Mr Bradley and Mr. Coventry you are, together with, for and with the EUropean Movement LIARS, further your lies are in the mould of Lord Haw Haw who was executed for his treason against the British peoples. You have fabricated figures to demean Britain and favour a Foreign and alien regime at the expense of Britain, your behavior is exorable and unconceivable even within the parameters of prostituting your integrity for gain. THE ONE THING THE PUBLICATION FAILED TO SHOW WAS ANY SUCH FACT BASED ON FACTS. A single currency removes the costs associated with changing one currency into another. WHICH ARE MINISCULE RELATIVE TO OUR GDP IT ALSO REMOVES THE HUGE PROFITS MADE BY BRITAIN AND THE ENORMOUS NUMBER OF JOBS IN CURRENCY EXCHANGES AND MONEY DEALING IN BRITAIN. These charges cost the UK around 3 billion a year, TRUE IF ONE ONLY CONSIDERS THE COST AND EXCLUDES THE PROFITS. ALSO YOU FAIL TO MENTION THAT 82PERCENT OF THAT SUM IS IN TRANSACTIONS FROM STERLING TO US DOLLARS - OUR LARGEST SINGLE TRADING PARTNER IN THE EU IN CURRENCY TERMS IS GERMANY WITH WHOM ONLY 4PERCENT OF BRITISH CURRENCY TRANSACTIONS TAKE PLACE! a levy that falls disproportionately on small businesses. TRUE BUT ONLY ON THE VERY FEW SMALL BUSINESSES IN THE EXPORT TRADE TO THE EU - THIS LEVY IS A FRACTION OF THE MASSIVE VAT A TAX PAID ALMOST DIRECTLY TO THE EU BY EVERY BUSINESS IN BRITAIN AND EVERY INDIVIDUAL IN BRITAIN. By getting rid of the need to change currencies, euro members now enjoy an immediate competitive advantage. WHICH CAN NOT AMOUNT TO MORE THAN A FRACTION OF 1PERCENT OF THEIR GDP AND WOULD BE EVEN LESS IN BRITAIN AS WE EXPORT MORE TO THE REST OF THE WORLD THAN WE DO TO THE EURO ZONE. * The cost of long-term exclusion has become clear this week. Sony, Michelin, Panasonic and Goodyear have all made clear that the currency volatility they are faced with is making them uncompetitive. SONY, MITCHELIN, PANASONIC & GOODYEAR ALL WITHOUT EXCEPTION SAID THE REASON WAS THE WEAKNESS OF THE EURO AND NONE OF THE JOBS LOST IN BRITAIN WENT TO THE EURO ZONE THEY ALL WENT TO THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES UNFETTERED BY THE RIDICULOUS OVER BUREAUCRACY AND DESTRUCTIVE EU POLICIES. Regarding trade figures here are the actual figures for 1999: I do not know anything about regional figures but they are PLAIN WRONG in their total of 60.7% of *trade* with the EU .. For *Goods* (visibles) the figure was 58.7%, for *invisibles* 37.4% and for *transfers* 57.9% total 49.2%. No-way, no-how, never can one get to 60.7% if one uses official ONS data (I've even tried lumping imports and exports of goods only together .. (the FCO tried that one on me once)..and still I cannot reach 60.7%) Christina ...................... TRADE FIGURES FOR 1999 Due to continued recession in Asia in 1999 Britains exports to that region suffered and the trade balance with Asia which normally shows a healthy surplus remains in deficit. (The balance swung from a surplus of 9.90 bn in 1997 to a small deficit in 1998 to a deficit of - 7.03bn in 1999) This has the effect of increasing the share of British exports going to other regions! Thus the Americas took 24% of visible and invisible exports against 23% and the EU 49.2% against 48.6% in 1998. After adjustments are made to account goods shipped to Rotterdam and Antwerp and after estimating that the 15.8bn worth of goods and services not destined for Holland Belgium will in part be reshipped outside the EU altogether the share of our export trade going to the other countries of the EU is in truth almost exactly 47%. However, it must be recognised that the proportion of total business activity accounted for by exports is a relatively small percentage. Of a 1999 GDP of 891bn exports of goods to the EU account for 10.9%, exports of services to 2.7% and investment income from the EU to 4.9%. Thus 18.5% of GDP relates to exports of all kinds to the EU. Investment income is the biggest single component of total exports ahead of manufactured goods. (31% to 28%).
